FAQ

Blackwood Crossing is a story-driven first-person adventure game. A haunting tale of intrigue and mystery.

You play as Scarlett, a teenager finding her way in the world. You wake up, disorientated, to find yourself and your younger brother, Finn, inexplicably travelling on a moving train.

But when a mysterious figure appears, it’s clear that this is no ordinary train ride. It’s the beginning of a magical voyage, steeped in life, love and loss.

Navigating this powerful drama – where the world, and your abilities develop in extraordinary ways – you are forced to examine your relationship with Finn. You are orphans, and your relationship has always been strong. However, adolescence has opened the door to new interests, and you’ve been growing apart.

As you gradually uncover the depths of Finn’s anguish, the consequences of your remoteness become shockingly clear.

Blackwood Crossing was released on Xbox One, PS4, and Steam on April 4th and 5th 2017.

Blackwood Crossing is made by PaperSeven, an independent development studio in Brighton, UK. The studio was set up in 2011, by a team of games veterans from AAA studio, Black Rock Studio.

The senior team has over 50 years’ development experience – from AAA console, to the world of Mobile F2P, and now back to premium titles on Console and PC. The studio is now pretty much 100% focused on developing its own IP, and all the excitements that brings with it!

We feel like Blackwood Crossing is the studio’s first “grown up” game, and we’re suitably proud parents!

Blackwood Crossing is being published in partnership with Vision Games Publishing.
Blackwood Crossing currently has English VO and subtitles, and localised subtitles for French, German, Italian and Spanish.
We’ve used Unity to develop Blackwood Crossing. Unity is a powerful engine that enables the team to stay focused on the things they do best – making a game that looks and plays great! The quality bars being set by Unity games are going up and up, and we’re passionate about pushing it to its limits on the visuals front.

We’ve also used some brilliant plugins and middleware solutions, including uSequencer, Playmaker, and Fabric for our Audio design.
